This bottom-up double brim beanie is the second of four hats being highlighted in my “All the Double Brim Hats” series. You can find the others here:
This delicately stitched beanie has a slight swirl to the stitches that gives it a textured, yet feminine, feel. The double brim is a ribbed SC and is both soft and warm.
I have SO enjoyed working on this double brim hat series and experimenting with different ways to create a double brim. I’m convinced this is going to be the hottest style of the winter so I hope you’ll make many of them to give away or to add to your craft fair inventory – you’re people are going to LOVE it!

Make Your Bottom Up Double Brim Beanie!
With size H hook
Row 1: SC in the second chain from hook and in each ch across. CH1, turn. (18 sts)
Row 2: (working in back loop only), SC in the same st as turning ch, SC in each st across. (18 sts)
Row 3 – 62: repeat row 2
Fold so that right sides are together and SLST a seam, connecting the back stitch of the last row to the remaining loops from the foundation chain.
Turn right side out – the seam will be on the inside. With your hook at the top of the piece, fold the band in half so that the brim is doubled. You’ll be working around the brim,
matching the ends of the rows together and working through both layers to sew the brim closed with round 1.
RND 1: CH1 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout), SC into each stitch around. SLST into first SC to join. 62 STS
RND 2: CH1, SC in the same stitch as beginning ch1, DC in the next stitch, *SC in the next stitch, DC in the next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. Join with a SLST to top of beginning SC. 62 STS
RND3: CH1, DC in the same stitch as beginning ch1, SC in the next stitch, *DC in the next stitch, SC in the next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. Join with a SLST to top of beginning DC. 62 STS
RNDS 4 – 21: repeat rounds 2 and 3. 62 STS Finish off leaving a tail. Sew the top closed and attach a pompom as desired
