With Color A, CH16. Then, working loosely…
Loosely CH19.
Row 1: 2DC in 4th CH from hook, *sk 2 sts, SC in next st, sk 2 sts, 5DC (Shell St) in next st. Repeat from * one time. Sk 2 sts, SC in last st. (2.5 Shells, 3 SC)
Row 2: CH3 (counts as DC here and throughout), turn, 2DC in same st as beg CH, *sk 2 sts, SC in next st, sk 2 sts, 5DC in next st. Repeat from * one time. Sk 2 sts, SC in last st. (2.5 Shells, 3 SC)
Rows 3 – 25: Repeat row 2.
Finish off.

Is the photo a different size/stitch count? It looks much larger than the result I get from the pattern. Looks like at least 5 shells wide rather than 2.5.
No, it’s the same as the pattern. it might look like 5 shells because row 2 sits sort of enmeshed with row 1, making it look like all of the shells are on a single row. The length of your beginning chain should be approximately 9″ wide. Check that measurement to see if it’s coming out correctly. If the beginning row is correct and you’re meeting gauge, the neckwarmer should be the same as the one in the photo. Please let me know if you continue to have trouble.
