Let’s face it: not every crochet pattern is designed with your needs in mind. Some feel like a marathon, dragging on forever, or require you to keep track of complicated stitch counts when you just want to relax. The Juniper Ridge Baby Blanket is the antidote to those projects.

This pattern is perfect for busy crocheters who want something that looks impressive but works up quickly and intuitively. The textured Suzette Stitch creates a beautiful, squishy texture with zero stress. It’s repetitive enough to be meditative, but never boring.

And when you pair it with a favorite picture book or soft stuffed animal, you’re not just giving a gift—you’re wrapping a new baby in love and care. There’s nothing like that feeling of handing over a handmade gift and seeing the look of joy (and a few tears) in a new parent’s eyes.

Why you’ll love the Juniper Ridge Baby Blanket

  • QUICK & EASY – Thanks to the super chunky blanket yarn, you’ll have this blanket finished in just a few evenings (or a weekend if you’re feeling extra cozy).
  • PERFECT FOR GIFTING – Whether you’re attending a baby shower, sending love across the miles, or donating to a NICU, this blanket is a thoughtful and heartfelt gift.
  • BEGINNER FRIENDLY PATTERN – The Suzette Stitch creates a plush, textured look with minimal counting and zero stress.

  • Sts worked through both loops unless otherwise indicated.
  • When a row beg with a CH1, it does not count as a st. .

Step-by-Step Guide to Crocheting the Juniper Ridge Blanket

With color A CH53 (69)

Row 1: SC in second CH from hook, DC in next st. *SC in next st, DC in next st. Repeat from * to last st. You’ll end with a DC. CH1, turn. 52 (68) SC

Row 2: SC in DC of previous row. DC in SC. *SC in next st, DC in next st. Repeat from * to last st. You’ll end with a DC. CH1, turn. 52 (68) SC

Rows 3 – 50 (58): Repeat row 2.

Color Pattern:

I alternated colors every four rows using the pattern A, B, A, C, and ended the last four rows with color A.

Make Color Changes:

To change color-when you reach the end of the row, finish the DC with the new color. You’ll work the DC as follows…

With the active color, YO, insert your hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO, pull through two loops, drop active color.

Pick up the new color as a YO and pull through last two loops. CH1 to finish row and proceed as instructed for next row.

BORDER

Each row is considered a st for the purposes of creating the border.

Continue with color A, starting along the long side of blanket, SC in each st around blanket, working 3 SCs into each corner. When you reach the last corner work 3 SCs as normal and SLST into starting st and finish off. Tuck all ends.
